Scott Brown

My name is Scott Brown and I am a graduate of The Ohio State University. I earned a degree in Sport & Leisure Studies accompanied by a minor in Spanish. My goal is to further my education and obtain a master's degree in Higher Education with a concentration in working with student-athletes. I am from Toledo, Ohio where my family currently resides. The true passions in my life are my family, friends, sports, and food. My involvement with YATC consists of The Next Chapter Book Club, Fun-O-Rama, service-learning projects at local high schools, P.A.L.S., and Friendship Connection.

Molly Edwards

I returned to the Nisonger Center to work with YATC after my 2006-2007 traineeship through the center’s LEND program (Leadership Education Excellence in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities). I am a graduate student at OSU pursuing a Master of Social Work degree. I earned my Bachelors degree from Miami University in May 2005, with a major in Psychology and a minor in Statistical Methods. I am involved with What’s Next, service learning, sibling support, Next Chapter Book Club, Fun-O-Rama, and mentoring. Please contact me if you are interested in becoming a YATC volunteer!

Kelly Ferrell

My name is Kelly Ferrell and I am a graduate of the Ohio State University. I earned a degree in Art. I am currently working on a second degree in Technology, and a certification in special education. My objective is to continue to work with young adults with special needs. My involvement with YATC consist of The Next Chapter Book Club, Fun-O-Rama, P.A.L.S., and Friendship Connection.

Brandon Hixson

My name is Brandon Hixson, and I am a 4th year student at the Ohio State University. I am majoring in Social work, and I have a minor in Japanese Language. I plan to eventually get a masters in Social work, and work in one of the following fields Children services, MR/DD, hospital SW or, International social work. Within the YATC program I am involved with Community connections, Yatc On the Move, and a Sibling support group out in Dublin.

Hillary Jones

I am a second year masters student in Occupational therapy at The Ohio State University. I am visually impaired, which led to my involvement with persons with disabilities. I am the treasurer of UNITY, NAMI – OSU, and Sports F.U.S.I.O.N. I also participate in an E-mentoring program through the Nisonger Center at OSU. For YATC, I am the point person for Community Connections. I am also involved with service learning project in Upper Arlington High School, Fun O’Rama, and mentoring. I am also seeking to start a Next Chapter Book Club at the Ohio State School for the Blind.

Karla Kmetz

I am a fourth year undergraduate student graduating in June 2008 from The Ohio State University with a major in English and a minor in Disability Studies. I am the President of the student organization Unity. I have previously worked at other offices on campus including the Office for Disability Services and Adapted Recreational Sports. In my free time I like to read, hang out with friends, and travel. Through YATC, I am involved in Fun-O-Rama, Next Chapter Book Club, Mentoring, Aspirations, and the service learning programs at Upper Arlington and Westerville. I am the point person for Aspirations and service learning at Upper Arlington, so feel free to contact me if you have any questions!

Sarah Priest

I am a YATC member from North Royalton, Ohio. I graduated in March 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from The Ohio State University. I participate in What’s Next, Friendship Connection, The Next Chapter Book Club, Fun-O-Rama, and a service-learning program at Westerville North High School. I am also a mentor in the Way-to-Work E-mentoring Program. I am the point person for the Next Chapter Book Club and Westerville service learning program. In my spare time, I like to read, practice yoga, and work with glass.

Greg Roth

My name is Greg Roth and I grew up in Shelby, Ohio. In 1977, I enrolled in a technical college and moved to Columbus. Upon graduating in 1979, I began my career in the field of electronics, working as a customer service representative. However, I was injured in an auto accident in 1981, and have since used a wheelchair to work at several other local companies. Currently, I am pursuing a second career in Social Work at Ohio State while working part-time for Youth for Christ coordinating adapted recreation at four Columbus Public schools. As for volunteering, I enjoy hosting international students, as well as, mentoring adolescents with disabilities. My hobbies include reading, swimming, traveling, and billiards.

Nick Ryan

My name is Nick Ryan, I was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio. I have a mild case of Cerebral Palsy. I graduated from Ohio State in 2006 with a degree in special education. I have diverse experience working with people who have disabilities. I have done field placements in Columbus Public Schools, as well as, the Nisonger Early Childhood Education Center and Ohio State School for the Blind. I have worked at Recreation Unlimited and for Franklin County MRDD. Besides YATC I am working with the Early Intervention program at Easter Seals. My YATC activities are Service Learning project at Gahanna High School, What’s Next?, Aspirations, and the Columbus State Community College MRDD human services program.
