Mentoring

Program Description

As mentors, YATC Members are role models for the young adults. Mentors help mentees learn how to use their community to its fullest so that they can be more independent. They also help mentees expand their own social support network.

Mentors serve as

  1. A guide for this person. We are there to offer ideas and suggestions.
  2. There to answer questions from the mentee.
  3. To be a confidant. We want to be somebody the mentee can confide in and talk to.
  4. An encourager.
  5. To give constructive feedback.
  6. To help them with career exploration.
  7. To be a motivator.
  8. To be a coach.

Time

Mentors have two face-to-face meetings and two email or phone conversations per month. Mentors and mentees will work together to find the best possible time for these activities.

Location

Mentors and mentees will coordinate the best location for the activities that they plan.

Cost

There is no fee to be paired with a YATC Mentor; however, there may be fees for the activities that mentors and mentees plan together.
